At sunrise, Lady Hamöra moved softly through her daughter Rhea's room, carrying a steaming cup of tea. With a gentle touch, she placed it on the nightstand, casting a warm glow in the dimly lit space. As the sweet aroma filled the air, Lady Hamöra approached the curtains and pulled them back, allowing the golden rays of sunlight to flood the room.
Rhea stirred beneath her cozy blankets, her eyes fluttering open. A soft smile tugged at the corners of her lips when she saw her mother standing there.
“Just a little longer Ma, I’m not ready to graduate just yet.”
Täni, her mother, looks at her with concerned eyes. She knew Rhea had been apprehensive about her final days at the Radiant City Polytechnic. Her graduation would mean the people of the Ojii Kingdom would treat her as a young adult from now on, more importantly, she would be securing her position as an official candidate to become the Eternal.
Their morning ritual of tea and conversation was a cherished tradition, and today held a special significance. It marked the beginning of Rhea's last day at the prestigious institute she had called her second “home” for so long.
As Rhea sat up in bed, her mother took a seat beside her. They sipped the Huni-infused tea, the golden warm liquid invigorating their spirits as memories of Rhea's childhood filled the room.
“It was all so peaceful Ma, learning our letters and arithmetic, and our special activities with Sister Tene. But everything changed once Lord Inki betrayed us.”
Lady Hamora reminisced about Rhea's first steps into the institute, her youthful enthusiasm, and the dreams that had fueled her journey.
“You always wanted to be a painter and cover Ojii with captivating murals. But now a greater calling is upon you my love, you have proven yourself worthy amongst the younglings.”
Rhea looks down with concerned eyes at the swirling cream of her tea, the perfect sun shape slowly dissipating after each sip.
“Just like this tea Ma, my future is fading away. I never wanted this for myself.”
With each passing day, Rhea had grown into a formidable young woman, her talents honed under the guidance of the institute's esteemed mentors. Now, as her graduation drew near, both anxiety and a tinge of nostalgia washed over her. Lady Hamöra remained attentive to her daughter's mix of pride and bittersweet emotions.
After their tea, Lady Hamöra and Rhea rose from their seats, and prepared for the day, starting with a shower and getting dressed.
Finally ready, they walked through the hallways of their home, the echoes of their footsteps blending with the whispers of Täni’s handmaidens.
“Aww look at our precious girl, she is the one, she will be our leader.”
“A new era is upon us, a Hamöra as The Eternal!? This will be the first.”
”A queen for sure, our kingdom will rise from the depths of darkness once again.”
Both she and Lady Hamöra adorned themselves in elegant attire befitting the occasion. Rhea, with her youthful grace and blossoming beauty, chose a robe exquisitely designed by her friend Awni that exuded sophistication and charm.
Crafted from a sumptuous midnight blue silk fabric, the robe draped gracefully over her slender frame, commanding attention and admiration.
The robe featured a floor-length silhouette, with a fluid, flowing drape that added a sense of regality to Rhea's presence. The midnight blue hue deepened under the light, creating an enchanting effect as she moved. Delicate gold embroidery adorned the collar and cuffs, showcasing intricate patterns inspired by the celestial geomancy of the Hamöra Clan. As Rhea gracefully walked, the robe's fabric whispered against the ground, leaving a trail of elegance in her wake. The wide sleeves, billowing with a sense of ethereal beauty, added a touch of whimsy to the ensemble. Each sleeve was adorned with intricate gold threading, weaving delicate black diamond motifs that caught the light and shimmered with her every gesture. To complement the robe, she wore a necklace that echoed the celestial theme. A single teardrop-shaped sapphire pendant, suspended from a delicate gold chain, adorned her neck. The sapphire, a radiant blue gem, echoed the rich color of her robe as it caught the light and shimmered with every movement. This added a touch of refined elegance to her ensemble. Her hair, intricately braided box braids and interwoven with gold silk strings, cascaded down her back adding a touch of regal allure. This style allowed attention to be drawn to her radiant face and the striking accessories that adorned her. The crystal beads reflected the soft hues of her robe onto her hair. The handmaiden who meticulously crafted this intricate wardrobe added a touch of sophistication and a hint of Hamöra magic to Rhea’s overall look. In this exquisite robe, Rhea became a vision enchantment, leaving an indelible impression on all who beheld her.
Lady Hamöra, who is the epitome of timeless grace, chose a matching robe that exuded her sense of captivating beauty. Her attire, fashioned from flowing ivory silk, draped softly against her silhouette. A slender belt cinched at the waist, accentuating her graceful curves, while her flowing robe trailed behind, lending an air of majesty to her presence. Her hair, elegantly braided in the fashion of her elders, is skillfully woven into a series of braids that run along the center of her head following the natural curve. As the rows progress toward the back of her head, they transition into thicker and more intricate braids. These braids cascade elegantly down her back. Lastly, the remaining hair is braided and divided evenly into two sections, meticulously bundled to form provocative flowing coils that frame the elegance of her face.
To complete her look, Lady Hamöra wore a necklace passed down through generations—a necklace adorned with a pendant showcasing a single radiant pearl, symbolizing wisdom, grace, and the enduring bond between mother and daughter. As Rhea and Lady Hamora stood side by side, their attire resonated with the significance of their clan, and status. Their miraculous ensembles were not just a display of fashion, but a reflection of their clan, their love, and the culmination of years of hard work and dedication.
Together, they radiated a sense of poise and opulence, ready to embrace Rhea's next chapter. With their heads held high and hearts full of pride, Rhea and Lady Hamöra embarked on the graduation ceremony, an embodiment of grace and elegance that captured the essence of their remarkable bond.
As the two leave their home, Lady Hamöra asks her daughter a question.
“Do you know why it is important that we as a people elect an Eternal to lead our kingdom?”
Rhea tilted her head slightly, stroking her chin as she pondered on how to answer her.
“The Eternal is a powerful person, they oversee all of the kingdom, they organize missions and objectives for our agents and they make tough decisions regarding the safety of our people.”
Lady Hamöra nods in agreement.
“Exactly my child, and which one of those do you think is most important?”
Rhea stops to look back down the path they came. The cobbled streets teeming with workers from the port listening to their captain’s orders. Dockworkers load crates of regional fruits and aromatic spices onto the boats. The smell of boltmeg, burnamon, gerihall creates a tantalizing scent that beckons the youth to come to the markets. Savory dishes are sizzling on open grills. Families gather around entertainers who perform to the rhythmic beats of the Mari Drums. Their bodies twisted and shook to the cheers of the people. The festive music draws her attention to the dancing fishermen who cast their glistening nets to catch the fish for export to other regions of the kingdom. The flags of Kisiwa flutter from the breeze of the coastline all the way to the top of the island’s hill where the Hamöra Estates sit.
“Protecting our people Ma, to ensure that our culture prospers and remains safe from those beyond the Gate.”
“Right again, and many of us believe you have what it takes to oversee that very thing. You are a kind and diligent young lady, you have always been an anchor for your classmates and a symbol of hope for the Kisiwa Tribe. Your classmates and your hard work are proof that you deserve the opportunity to lead our nation.”
Rhea shifts her gaze to the very top of the hill, where her father awaits them inside the Hamöra Forge.
“Is it me or the clan they believe in?”
Rhea turns to look at her mother, waiting for a response.
“It is you, undoubtedly you my love. You have always been the pride of our clan, but the people say you carry the spirit of Kisiwa inside you..more than any of us. Not a day goes by without the village praising us for the lady you’ve become.”
With open arms, Lady Hamora gently pulls Rhea close, her touch conveying warmth and tenderness. The embrace is a refuge, a sanctuary where worries dissipate, and all that remains is the strength of their connection. At this moment, time seems to slow down, allowing them to savor the precious exchange.
“Let us press forward my love, your father is waiting. We are waiting, your true calling is waiting.”
Rhea and her mother reach the steps of the Hamöra Forge, where Rhea's father, a master Geosmith, worked effortlessly to help students create technological masterpieces from the elements. It was a place filled with the mystifying warmth of their clan's Usoro Izo, or the hidden skill of the noble clans, which echoed the oscillating sounds of electricity sizzling and illuminated the surroundings with brilliant light.
As they reached the entrance of the forge, they were greeted by one of her father’s creations. An autonomous droid with advanced artificial intelligence. The android's towering figure stands at an imposing height, exuding its power and resilience. Its sleek, metallic frame is crafted with precision, featuring a seamless integration of rare metals harvested from the snow-capped mines of the Upper Kenkara region to create a blend of both durability and flexibility.
The android's faceplate, reminiscent of the Kenkara warriors, showcases a symmetrical arrangement of glowing eyes, emanating a piercing and intense gaze. These eyes flicker with an otherworldly light, hinting at its superiority within. The faceplate extends into a sleek, angular helmet, adding an air of mystery and strength to its visage. As for its body, the android possesses a dynamic and agile physique. Powerful robotic limbs, each equipped with formidable weapons and tools, which were seamlessly hidden within its frame. The limbs move with fluidity and precision, far beyond the capabilities of anything human. But even then, the android known as 0.G.U.N was gentle, respectful, and above all loyal. It came to greet its masters.
“Welcome Lady Hamöra, young master: It is a pleasure to see you again.Lord Hamöra is waiting for you in the central hall. Shall I escort you to his location?”
Lady Hamöra and Rhea answer in unison
“Yes 0.G.U.N, thank you.”
They follow behind 0.G.U.N as the massive doors open to the forge.
“This way.”
0.G.U.N extends one of his main arms leading down a dark corridor to the center of the forge.
The interior is bathed in a cool, indigo, ethereal light, emanating from bioluminescent panels lining the walls and ceiling. The soft, pulsating glow creates an otherworldly ambiance, a faint mist evokes a feeling of transcendence and mysticism. The wall engravings depict ancient symbols representing wisdom, strength, and the interconnectedness of nature and technology. At each intersection soft, futuristic humming can be heard as other clan members travel from area to area. Rhea and company approach another grand set of doors. This pair showcases intricate carvings and motifs that are similar to that of the clan’s Usuro Izo, circular circuitry that formulates the clan’s symbolic sun.
“Lord Hamöra is just ahead.”
The doors separate from the center and cool air fills the corridor. Soft cerulean light shines through, along with sizzling and crackling from young clansmen put together new technology. A low hum and soft vibration resonate as the power cores are being secured. The sound slowly intensifies as the energy channels through the device.
Rhea and Täni enter the room, as 0.G.U.N slowly fades back into the darkness of the corridor.
“Thank you 0.G.U.N.”
As Täni had turned to an empty hall.
“That droid is always on the job.”
Rhea chimes in.
Rhea and her mother stand at the entrance, inside the central hall lies a massive circular platform, intricately inscribed with ancient symbols and circuitry patterns. This platform, made of a material similar to 0.G.U.N, shimmers, and changes colors, Is both ancient and impossibly advanced. It is here that Lord Hamöra teaches the process of creating advanced technology and weaponry takes place.
In the center of the platform a tall, shadowy, brooding man watches over the young people focusing their energy. He turns his head to the side.
“Ah my love, I’ve been waiting for you two to arrive.”
II
Lord Hamöra, held onto his calm poise as it emanated peace and tranquility to the students around him. He turns to his wife and child with open arms.
Rhea and Täni are embraced in a bear-like fashion. Father, mother, and daughter bound together, as his students tease from their workspaces.
“Look at em, look at em, look at em…Lord Hamöra finally cracks a smile.”
“I’d smile too if I got to hug such beautiful women everyday.”
“Ooo, do you see their robes, those must be Hamöra exclusives, I can’t wait until the spring collection is released!”
“YEA! Lady Hamöra makes the prettiest outfits.”
Lord Hamöra turns to face their remarks. The room only filled with the humming and vibrations of parts combining and powering up.
"My dear abafundi," Lord Hamöra began, his voice resonating with a soothing yet commanding tone. "Today, you have worked endlessly attempting to master your Usoro Izo. You have delved into the depths of knowledge and embarked on a quest to expand your understanding of Geochemy.”
"You have shown dedication and an eagerness to learn, and for that, I commend each and every one of you. Remember, mastering your Usoro Izo is a lifelong pursuit. It is not confined within the walls of this classroom, but rather, it extends beyond, into every aspect of your lives."
His students nodded, their hearts filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the wisdom bestowed upon them. Lord Hamöra's passion for teaching and his genuine care for their growth had left an indelible mark on their young minds.
"Now, our day draws to a close, I release you from the forge. Go forth with curiosity and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Explore the world around you, embrace the different cultures of our fellow tribesmen, and seek wisdom in the unlikeliest of places," Lord Hamöra declared, his voice carrying a hint of anticipation.
“I expect new findings and creations from you tomorrow.”
With a nod and a warm smile, Lord Hamöra bid his students farewell. In unison they all exit in a quiet systematic fashion.
“Now to more pressing matters,” Lord Hamöra signals for his daughter to follow him.
“Where are we going now Baba!?”
Rhea's heart swelled with anticipation as she eagerly followed him to another circular platform.
“Are we headed to the Office of the Sun? I’ve never been to this room! Baba is it true each of the seven Lords have a room like this?”
Lord Hamöra nods, followed by a “Mhmm”.
“Täni! Come, please, I want you to present it to her.”
Lady Hamöra joins them on the platform. It ascends to the highest point of the forge to a small pair of doors similar to the doors of the central hall. Unlike the others, Lord Hamöra had to be scanned before the clicking and shifting of mechanisms unlocked the door.
Father, mother and daughter enter the room, Rhea instantly captivated by the view.
“Baba, you can see everything from up here! Our home, the port, the festival, even Ina’s Lighthouse.”
“Everything under the sun, my precious girl.” Lord Hamöra places his hand on her shoulder as he points to the mansion of the Eternal, and the Sage’s Tree.
Rhea’s face lit up, “I go to school up there all the time but this view is amazing! I am jealous baba, you sit up here everyday and watch over our people.”
Tani chimes in. “As Lord of Kisiwa, it is his job, I’m sure he would rather be spending more time with you and I my love.”
Lord Hamöra walks behind his desk, opening a drawer and taking out a small, beautifully crafted chest mirroring the intricate circular circuitry on all sides. Its lock, the clan's crest. He brings it to Täni who begins to speak.
“Rhea, my joy of the five realms, what your father is handing to me is a gesture of gratitude from all the citizens of Kisiwa, all of your family from the clan, and a symbol of our pride, as your parents.”
Täni places the chest into Rhea’s hands, and lets her husband continue with the speech.
“As the heir to the Hamöra Clan, and future leader of the Ojii Kingdom, you will be expected to know all of the Ins and outs of this nation, as well as the nations beyond the Gate.”
Rhea’s facial expression changed. Anticipation and excitement taken over by anxiety and unease. She walks over and sits next to the window facing the capital and the Eternal’s mansion.
Her father’s words swirling around in her head, her dreams of becoming an artisan slowly fades as the pressure amasses in her chest. Täni moves to console her but her husband stops her.
“But Raza-”
Lord Hamöra waves his finger no.
Rhea, takes a deep breath and turns to face her parents.
“What if I fail and the kingdom is destroyed, or I'm an inadequate leader and the people begin to lose faith in me, or worse, rebel, like they did 2 years ago!?”
Raza moves closer to his daughter, and faces her back towards the mansion. Pointing his finger at the very top, and slowly moves it towards the bottom.
“Rhea, what do you see?”
Rhea follows the path of his finger as it wavers over the capital.
“I see, Luxe Azur baba.”
“Tell me more.”
“It is home of the Eze Tribe, and led by the Onye Clan. The Onye are the founders of Ojii, the first of our people. It is also the sacred ground of our great Sage Tree, the progenitor of the Sage’s Seed and the Usoro Izo of the Seven Suns.”
“Rhea,What is the symbol of our kingdom?”
“The Sage Tree baba, a massive tree that towers over the kingdom. With roots so deep they can even be found underneath our islands in Kisiwa. It was left in our region by The Enlightened Ones, the deities of Infinium. The tree is what empowers the seed abilities.”
“And the Sage’s Seed?”
Rhea's mind delved deep into the recesses of thought, her physical demeanor transformed, reflecting the intensity of her contemplation. Her eyes, usually filled with vibrant curiosity, took on a focused and introspective gaze. They stared off into the distance, seemingly peering into the depths of her own mind, searching for the answers she sought.
“It is the result of evolution within the people of Ojii. It is the ability to channel nature’s natural elements through the “cores” of their body. These people cannot access the intrinsic abilities of the Onye clan or any noble clan, nor can we as nobles, naturally use the elements of nature at our disposal. The interconnectedness of nature to the spirit of our people is our natural signature.”
“Well said Rhea, your studies are proving to have paid off.”
“Who are the Seven Suns?”
“The Seven Suns are the seven noble clans who govern each tribe and act as council to the Eternal. The Onye, the Hamöra, the Oju Keta, the Quun, the Apani Je, the Agbara, and the Erankö. Each possessing an Usoro Izo, drastically different from the abilities bestowed by the Sage’s Seed..”
“That’s correct Rhea, now tell me about over there.”
Raza’s finger now trails lower pointing at the snow capped mountains that sit below Luxe Azur.”
“Oh that’s easy Baba, that is the Kenkara Upper. Home of the Iwadii Tribe who are led by the Apani Je clan. Known for their research in medicine, minerals, and agriculture. Producers of our most precious commodity, Huni. A powerful elixir used for multiple purposes in both food and medicine.”
“Right again. What about that jungle? Who resides there and why are they important to the kingdom?”
Rhea’s eyes lay upon the thicket swarming the ankles of the mountains. None of them can oppose the Sage Tree but enough to easily get lost.
“That dangerous jungle is home to the apex predators, the most elite hunters Ojii has ever seen. The powerful, prideful, Erankö. The Erankö clan watch over the Ode Tribe and ensure that the wild beasts of Ojii are corralled and disposed of. They also supply the nation with meat, herbs, and other raw goods collected from their hunt.”
Raza’s eyes lift in suspicion “Is that all?”.
“Oh, and although most people may not know this, they are also the kingdom’s “secret” police.”
Rhea chuckles softly as she creates air quotes. “They secretly hunt down criminals for the Eternal no matter the circumstances, even if they escape beyond the gate.”
“They are a very dangerous contribution to our kingdom, but they are truly honorable men and women. constantly risking their lives to ensure we as a nation do not suffer from hunger.”
“They also make really good furniture pieces too!” Rhea adds innocently as she points to her father’s mantle.
Raza smirks, shaking his head after noticing how his daughter can make light of any situation.
“Focus dear.” his gaze shifts north of the jungle, a plateau boasting a beautifully constructed tower that pierces the clouds above.”
Rhea runs her fingers proportionally along the side of the tower, mirroring someone scaling it. “That is the home to the Chifu tribe. Quiet folk, well mannered and typically keep to themselves. Sophisticated, respectful, and more often than not, stick together. The Oju Keta lead the Chifu and are in charge of the intelligence network.”
“Excellent, Rhea.” Täni adds into the conversation. “You have learned so much over the years.” She moves over to her daughter and leans to rest her head near her’s. Gracefully, she points at the dome south of the plateau. “You are almost done Rhea, who lives there?”
Rhea's face shows displeasure as thoughts of the dome flood her mind. “Those scoundrels of a tribe. The Ibori are an outlandish bunch who only think of themselves. Greedy, superficial, and arrogant. If it weren’t for their esteemed role of homeland security, most tribes would be done with them.”
Raza feels the contempt seething from his daughter, so he imparts some wisdom as he walks back to his desk.
“The disdain you have for them is understandable, we have lost a lot from their betrayal of the kingdom, but as a future leader Rhea, you must not succumb to your feelings. Not all Ibori or Quun were disloyal.”
Still displeased, Rhea moves to the north facing windows pointing towards the horizon where a blanket of storm clouds hover over an island in the distance.
“That is where the Amara tribe resides. Completely isolated from the rest of us. Led by the Agbara clan who although are not the founders of our kingdom, they are truly a magnificent example of kings and queens. A proud, humble, and elite society of men and women who always put our people first. They believe in community and enrichment of the nation. They are in charge of Giza, a cosmic energy generator, which is used to power the entire kingdom. If it were not for them, our clan would have to work twenty times harder to only support a quarter of the kingdom.”
Raindrops slowly consume the windows and clouds begin to form as Rhea gives her final answer. She then turns to her parents with a new calmness. As the rain scatters over the forge, confidence washes away her anxiety. A soft smile replaces her melancholic smirk.
Raza and Täni embrace each other, slowly soaking in the peace that has claimed their daughter. “You are more ready than you think.” he began as he signals Rhea to bring her gift back to the desk. “Open it love.”
Rhea does as she is told, pressing in the clan’s seal releasing the locking mechanism. The shifting sounds of gears, and small hums as the locks move in and out place heighten Rhea’s anticipation. The chest opens, releasing cool compressed air as a soft light caresses her face.
“Baba is this what I think it is !?”
“You will do great things Rhea.” smiling as his daughter holds her gift in absolute bliss.
III
“The storm has cleared up for the time being,” Täni says persuasively, as she glances upward, touching her hair to make sure it is still presentable for the ceremony. The Hamöras exit Raza’s office out to the balcony where a young man and woman await them. The pair wore matching garbs of traditional clothing from the Kisiwa tribe. The man was wearing a royal blue shirt and matching shorts that stopped just above his knees. Crafted with a blend of rolyesher and Hamöran silk and showcased a lively pattern of gold and orange fromingos. The young lady, a matching swimsuit covered by a beautiful mesh sarong.
“My Lord. My Lady. Lady Rhea.” The young woman began as she welcomed them with a gentle bow. The young man places his hands together, breathing deeply, and expelling the air to a rhythm of his own design. His breaths become full as his posture straightens and his stance gains more poise. The young lady follows along matching his breathing, stance, and rhythm as if she was looking into a mirror. In a moment of focused concentration, a swirl of ghastly reddish-orange flames erupts into a circular tree glyph around their feet and in unison, they swing their arms fiercely into the air as if they were trying to rip the air itself apart. The couple channels their mystic energy into their fingers which are now embellished in fire and sear holes into the empty void as they slowly pull the fabrics of space apart. As they pull, sounds of interlocking mystical forces become undone revealing the portal, a gateway to the Luxe Azur’s Radiant Polytechnic Gate.
“Ah there it is!” Täni expresses graciously as she walks gracefully through the portal. “Thank you Umi, Jiya. As always your service is immaculate.” Raza finishes as he steps through the portal behind his wife. Rhea pauses for a moment, as this was her first time using a portal created by a fire seedling. She admires the elegant, yet bold gestures it takes to conjure such a wonder. “That…was..amazing! Thank you!” As Rhea follows her parents.
The Hamöras come through the other side of the portal where two more seedlings welcome them. “Oh so it takes four seedlings to travel through portals?” Rhea questions as she tries to make sense of her new traveling experience. “Not exactly my princess.” One of the seedlings extended their hand opening another portal big enough to fit three families. “It is all based on skill, practice, and above all else - heart.” The seedling smiles as Rhea and her parents make their way up to the main doors of the Radiant Polytechnic. As they walk up the long case of stairs, Rhea can hear the laughter of children and parents excited to be celebrating history once again as it comes time to select new candidates for the Eternal. Immediately her parents are swarmed, as any lord and lady would be, attacked with hugs, hands, praise and questions; it was quite overwhelming for her. To avoid being swarmed herself, Rhea quietly scurries to the left, to a secluded garden she has used to seek solace for many years. A serene haven of golden flora and sunlit fauna attended by the Onye Clan themselves. In this sanctuary, no matter the time of day, rays of amber light mirror the luminosity of the golden hour evenings Rhea is quite fond of. With a gentle exhale, Rhea closed her eyes, allowing her senses to awaken and embrace the world around her. The gentle rustling of leaves above, kissed by a soft breeze, played a soothing melody, whispering secrets of the sage’s tree kin. The scent of blooming flowers, carried by the air, enveloped her, filling her lungs with their sweet fragrance.
As she stood amidst the vibrant colors and intricate patterns of the garden, she extended her fingertips, lightly grazing the velvety petals of a nearby flower. Its delicate texture brought her a profound sense of connection—a tangible reminder of her years spent at the institute.
Rhea tuned in to the symphony of nature, embracing the harmonious chorus of chirping birds, the melodic hum of bees, and the distant whispers of flowing water. The rhythm of life pulsed around her, a reminder of the beauty and resilience that thrived within her beautiful kingdom.
Her mind, once filled with the weight of academia and the demands of her clan, now quieted as she immersed herself in the present moment. She became attuned to the gentle cadence of her own breath, grounding herself in the ebb and flow of her life force.
As time seemed to momentarily stand still, Rhea let her awareness expand beyond herself. She felt the collective energy of her fellow students, the echoes of their laughter, their shared triumphs, and the bonds forged through countless hours of study and growth.
With each inhale, she absorbed the essence of this cherished place—the knowledge imparted, the friendships kindled, and the transformative experiences that had shaped her into who she had become. With each exhale, she released any lingering tensions and worries, allowing them to dissolve into the ether.
In this serene moment of mindful awareness, Rhea opened herself to a profound sense of gratitude. She honored the journey she had undertaken, the challenges she had conquered, and the limitless possibilities that lay ahead. She reveled in the beauty of the institute's final gift—the opportunity to pause, reflect, and appreciate the remarkable chapter of her life that was drawing to a close.
As she slowly opened her eyes, a newfound serenity illuminated her gaze. Rhea carried with her the tranquility of the garden, and the echoes of the institute's wisdom as she prepared to step into the phase of her life. In the distance, Rhea could hear heavy doors creaking and awakening from their dormant state, their hinges groaning with anticipation. A hushed murmur rippled through the crowd, as all eyes turned towards the entrance, eager to catch the first glimpse of whom from the council will greet them first.
“Rhea! My love, where did you run off too? You don’t want to be late to your own ceremony do you?” Lady Täni exclaimed as she calmly slid through the incoming traffic of tribesmen searching for her daughter. Rhea chuckled to herself, as her mother’s aloofness to her location was simply fraudulent. Rhea did not move an inch, nor did she make a sound as she quietly stalked her mother from the blockades of flowers between them. Lady Täni waits in stillness. Only to be eclipsed by her headband, the illumination of her Usuro Izo dampens to a soft glow. Her head slightly turns, enough for Rhea to catch a glimpse of a victorious smirk. Rhea blinked momentarily, and her mother had vanished within the crowd. “Rhea, love, why do you still think you can hide from the Oju Keta?” she playfully whispers into the ear of her daughter. A light chill slithered up Rhea’s back as she sprung up from her seat in the garden. “Ma, must you mimic the approach of death itself!?” Mother and daughter lock eyes, both waiting for an honest response to their questions, neither breaking their gaze until an answer leaves their lips. A light breeze fills the garden as the noise from the guests fades quietly in the distance. Finally silence is all they could hear until Lord Hamöra appeared at the entrance of the garden. They both break their gazes, side-eyeing the husband, dad who seemed slightly annoyed from their antics. Small smiles creep onto their faces as they struggle to hold themselves together. “Ahem, am I interrupting something?” Raza began as he cleared his throat to break the game into pieces. Both mother and daughter burst into laughter as they locked hands and walked over to him. “Come daughter, we don’t want to annoy the Iron Wolf of Hamöra any further.”
Before long the Hamöras finally make it to their seats. Lord and Lady Hamöra settle down with the other Lords and Ladies of the Seven Suns, while Rhea takes her seat with the other six candidates. The Grand Hall of N’Kosi was a circular space, with seating from the floors just below the ceiling. In the center, a stage where the candidates stood engaging with their fans and family embracing the moment of victors. Suddenly, the enormous grand hall doors swung wide open, the force pushing a heavy gust of wind throughout the seats of the audience. All the cheering and celebration came to a hushed silence as everyone turned to face the door to see who arrived. Every eye fixated on the figure that emerged from the shadows of the hall. The First Eternal, Lord Ojii Onye, short but imposing, stepped into the room, and time seemed to momentarily stand still.
A quiet wave of emotions washed over the audience as they beheld his presence. comfort welled up within them, mingled with a deep sense of gratitude. He embodied the very essence of their kingdom, its strength, and its enduring spirit. Ojii’s gaze swept across the room, his eyes holding a warmth and wisdom that reached the depths of everyone’s soul. He acknowledged their presence with a nod, a silent gesture that conveyed his appreciation for their unwavering support.
As he moved through the room, the audience instinctively rose to their feet, standing in honor of their revered founder. Some couldn't help but reach out, extending hands in gestures of reverence and respect, their fingertips wishing to brush against the fabric of his cloak. They felt a tangible connection, a sense of unity that transcended words.
With every step he took, a hushed murmur followed in his wake. Whispers of gratitude and admiration floated through the air, a symphony of voices expressing their profound appreciation for the Eternal’s guidance and leadership. “All this gratitude and regard for me!?” Ojii began, as he motioned everyone to take their seats. “I love this time of year, how about you!?” Ojii scans the audience waiting for their response. Within seconds of him finishing the sentence, an eruption of booming cheers, claps, and chants flood the room. “Ah, yes, that’s more like it.” Ojii turns to the candidates, setting his gaze on each one only for a moment. He steadily watches them breathe as they return eye contact awaiting orders, praise, even criticism. The flickering flames in the grand hall danced in harmony with his gentle presence, casting an ethereal glow upon the esteemed individuals who had earned their place among the finest of the Ojii Kingdom. “My precious seeds," Lord Ojii began, his voice carrying the weight of experience and compassion. "Today, we celebrate not only your exceptional skills but also your unwavering dedication and the strength of your spirits.” He paused for a moment, his eyes twinkling with pride as he glanced at each individual in turn. With utmost respect, he addressed them with their honorifics, emphasizing the unique qualities that made them special to him.
"To my great-great-great-great-great-great grandson, Onisan, the Dreaming Willow, your leadership and perseverance have guided you through countless trials. Your prodigal spirit exceeds even your own reputation. I see a promising path ahead of you."

Ojii’s voice carried a mixture of admiration and affection as he continued, "Each one of you holds a special place in my heart. Your individual talents, coupled with your unwavering dedication to our nation and its people, make you shining beacons of hope and inspiration."
“Today I address you to shed light upon the threats and responsibilities that befall those who bear the title of Eternal," he began, his gaze sweeping across the eager faces before him.
"The role of an Eternal carries immense weight and significance. We are not only the protectors of our tribes but also the guardians of peace and harmony within the Ojii Kingdom. We bear the responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of our people, guiding them through times of both prosperity and adversity.” He paused for a moment, allowing his words to sink in before continuing, "One of the greatest threats that the Eternal must face is the constant presence of danger. Monstrosities and beasts roam the northern realm in hopes of settling a vendetta back from the days of my youth. In the east, ancient, mythic warriors, disciplined from birth to annihilate their opponents for the sake of glory and honor, seek to spread their way of life. Lastly, from the west, uncanny people with an insatiable thirst for dominance and submission see us as mere fuel for their dark arts. This is what lies beyond our gate. Even the inside of our kingdom is not immune to the conflicts and challenges that plague the outer world, we still deal with our own internal conflicts as well. Poverty, hunger, violence, safety.. It is the Eternal’s duty to stand at the forefront, facing these problems head-on, and safeguarding our people with every ounce of their strength and skill." Lord Ojii's eyes shone with a mix of determination and compassion as he continued, "But the responsibility of an Eternal extends far beyond the physical realm of combat. They must strive for balance, employing diplomacy and understanding to forge alliances within the Lost Region and navigate the complex web of political intrigue. Their decisions must be guided by the greater good, the welfare of our kingdom, and the preservation of peace." He emphasized the weight of their duty, his voice unwavering, "To be an Eternal means embodying the values of loyalty, integrity, and sacrifice. It requires humility, for they must lead by example and put the needs of our people above their personal desires. It is a path that demands resilience, adaptability, and dedication."
Lord Ojii's gaze softened, a spark of warmth igniting in his eyes as he imparted his final words of guidance, "But do not be disheartened, for the role of an Eternal is also one of immense honor and fulfillment. They have the privilege of shaping the future, nurturing the talents of our kingdom's youth, and fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among our fellow tribesmen." He smiled, a glimmer of hope shining through, "Remember that you are not alone in this journey. Our kingdom stands as a united force, bound by our shared purpose and the strength of our bonds. Lean on one another, seek wisdom from your mentors, and never forget the importance of trust and teamwork." With his voice resonating with purpose, Lord Ojii concluded, "As you embark on this path, embrace the challenges and responsibilities that await you. Strive to become not just skilled leaders, but compassionate leaders who embody the ideals of the Ojii Kingdom. Together, you will protect our people, uphold justice, and carve a path toward a brighter future for all. He pauses once more to face the crowd, absorbing the anticipation of his final words. “May the best candidate prevail!"
